What does CCO Stand for?

CCO stands for Chief Compliance Officer. It is a C-suite level position. They are the leader of the compliance officers and will often have a team of officers below them to manage and build a better healthcare entity.

What is a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)?

The Chief Compliance Officer is the head of making sure a healthcare company complies with regulations and laws, whether they may be in a company or outside, such as governmental. The CCO is the bridge between the compliance department and other departments within the healthcare facility. They make decisions that better the compliance and the efficiency of the entity. The CCO also may discover issues within the company and perform investigations or head-up audits to find weak spots within a procedure or bylaws for the healthcare entity.

The CCO also has to look at vulnerabilities, analyze the issues, and create and develop written accounts of these reports along with potential solutions to improve weak spots. A compliance officer also creates similar reports; the CCO will read their reports, analyze their solutions, and take their findings into account.
