In this course we will briefly review the categories of test complexity along with the criteria used to categorize them. This course describes best practices for protecting workers in healthcare settings from occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. This includes topics such as common bloodborne pathogens, routes of exposure, best practices and standards for avoiding exposure to bloodborne pathogens, proper sharps disposal, methods for compliance for OSHA and other standards, and incident reporting in case of an exposure. With proper training and preparation, employees and employers can minimize risk of BBP exposure at work.

Reviewers use the Bureau of Primary Health Care Health Center Site Visit Protocol to assess health centers’ compliance with the Health Resources and Services Administration requirements during a site visit; therefore, it provides HRSA information to carry out its oversight obligations using standard and transparent methods compatible with the health center compliance program manual. It also guides the health care centers on steps required to prepare successfully for an operational site visit, or OSV.
This course will give a general overview of the SVP and describe its various components and the available tools that help health centers prepare for a site visit. Course expiration date: 10/12/2026
