According to the American Council for Drug Education, approximately 60% of illegal drugs are consumed by Americans. Approximately 18 million abuse alcohol and 74.8% of alcohol and drug users are actively employed in the workplace. During this course, we will discuss risk factors, prevention and intervention techniques as they relate to the abuse of alcohol and drugs in the workplace. Topics covered will also include the supervisor’s role in dealing with substance abuse in the workplace, the negative outcomes of substance abuse, potential signs of abuse, and the heavy toll that it has on employee productivity.
