Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) are significant healthcare challenges. The number of individuals with dementia is estimated to reach 82 million by 2030 and 152 million by 2050. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia, accounts for 60-70% of cases worldwide. The diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias remain challenging due to the incomplete understanding of the risk factors, genetics, and pathological mechanisms that lead to manifestation of these disorders. This course provides an overview of the recent advances in identifying early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Current diagnostic and treatment guidelines will be identified, and the impact of these disorders will be discussed. The course will also highlight the socioeconomic disparities associated with the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
