They are forced into prostitution, domestic servitude, and manual labor, and victims can be of any age, gender, or nationality. It is a horrific crime that hides in plain sight and is a multi-billion-dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 24.9 million people around the world. This course will provide an overview of human trafficking and will address the statistics and prevalence of this criminal industry within the United States. Physical and behavioral indicators of victims will be identified, and intervention techniques with suspected trafficking victims, especially those within the healthcare setting, will be discussed.
