THE USE OF PHOTO DOCUMENTATION IN WOUND CARE

This course goes over issues regarding the practice or establishment of a wound photography protocol (how, when, and why use wound photography) at your facilities and guidelines for best practices. The course also presents the benefits of wound photographs as adjunct documentation in the medical record, since they can serve as a tool for communication, clinical issues, education, and risk management.

PRINCIPLES OF WOUND DRESSINGS

Understand the wound characteristics that influence dressing selection, and learn how to select the appropriate dressing based on wound characteristics and wound management goals. The Principles of Wound Dressings Course also discusses the factors which impact healing in chronic wounds and helps describe the correct action for each wound dressing category.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SKIN TEARS AND MARSI

A prevalent but under-recognized complication in healthcare settings is skin injury related to medical adhesives or MARSI. This kind of injury can happen across all care settings and age groups, impacting patient safety, quality of life, and the cost of healthcare. Learn about the definition and seven types of MARSI, reduction techniques, and skin tear identification.

DIABETES AND WOUND HEALING

Diabetes and Wound Healing touches upon the significance of Diabetic Foot Ulcers as a health problem for a person with diabetes, and helps you learn how to identify the barriers to healing, the risk factors, how to run a correct assessment of a Diabetic Foot Ulcer, and options on how to reduce pressure in diabetic patients.

ADVANCED NUTRITION FOR WOUND MANAGEMENT

Developed for both new healthcare practitioners as well as the more experienced professionals, this course was created to strengthen the understanding of the role nutrition has in the prevention and healing of pressure injuries. Information presented is suitable for providers in all care settings such as acute care, long-term care, rehabilitation, home healthcare, and doctor’s offices.

ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF FISTULAS

MedTrainer’s Assessment and Management of Fistulas Course will help you understand the development, treatment, and nursing considerations for effective fistula management to help clinicians improve the treatment of this type of injury. Review the factors that predispose a patient, discuss the clinical presentation of a patient with a fistula, and understand the nursing goals for a patient suffering from these wounds.

EFFECTIVE WOUND INJURY ASSESSMENT

Using the standards and guidelines provided by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP), this course provides a standardized method for collecting the history and assessment of data, common collection techniques, as well as discussions and examples of evidence-based care used in the evaluation of wounds.

ESSENTIALS OF WOUND CLEANSING

Wound Cleansing is one of the most important elements of an effective wound management protocol. Optimal wound healing cannot occur until all foreign bodies have been removed. Understand the principles of effective wound cleansing, identify the tools available and the common solutions used in wound cleansing.

INCISION CARE AND PREVENTION OF SURGICAL SITE INFECTIONS

From an economic standpoint, it’s becoming more important than ever to understand the costs associated with SSI, since CMS is no longer reimbursing healthcare facilities for SSIs related to several operations. This course helps you know the risk factors for SSI that you should screen for in the preoperative assessment and learn techniques to prevent SSI (pre and postoperatively).

MASDA

Learn how to care for individuals who are at risk for alterations in skin integrity or who present skin issues. Understand the different types of Moisture Associated Skin Damage, learn to distinguish between MASD and other types of skin ulcerations, and how to describe the pathophysiology of MASD to address the prevention and management of such injuries.
