This course is designed to provide a general overview of safety measures physicians, nurses, dentists, and any clinical staff treating women at a reproductive age should take as a part of their risk management plan required by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) for Health Centers. It will cover topics such as pregnancy and labor as well as postpartum care.
Lesson 1 tackles vital precautions before and during pregnancy, detailing potential risks associated with dental procedures and aerosolized operations, and the significance of sterilization of dental instruments, along with an in-depth understanding of informed consent.
Lesson 2 focuses on medical emergencies during pregnancy, distinguishing between obstetric and non-obstetric emergencies, with an emphasis on dental emergencies, their identification, and management.
Lesson 3 delves into prenatal care, covering essential areas like maternal health, nutrition, exercise, maternal safety, radiation precautions, and the impacts of various chemical, biological agents, and medications on pregnant women.
