Medicare Advantage and Other Medicare Health Plans
A Medicare Advantage Plan is another way to get your Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. MA Plans, sometimes called Part C or MA Plans are offered by Medicare-approved private companies that must follow rules set by Medicare.
If an individual joins an MA Plan, he or she will still have Medicare but get most of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage from the MA Plan, not Original Medicare. Most plans include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).
In most cases, individuals will need to use health care providers who participate in the plans network. However, many plans offer out-of-network coverage, but usually at a higher cost.
This course provides basic information about Medicare health plan options other than Original Medicare.

Derechos y Protecciones de Medicare
End-Stage Renal Disease is defined as permanent kidney failure that requires a regular course of dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Dialysis is a treatment that cleans your blood when your kidneys dont work. It gets rid of harmful waste, extra salt, and fluids that build up in your body. It also helps control blood pressure and helps your body keep the right amount of fluids. Dialysis treatments may help you feel better and live longer, but they arent a cure for permanent kidney failure.
A kidney transplant is a type of surgery that puts someone elses healthy kidney into your body. This donated kidney does the work that your own kidneys can no longer do. Individuals may get a kidney from someone who has recently died, or from someone whos still living, like a family member. The blood and tissue of the person who gives you the kidney must be tested to see how well they match yours so that your body wont reject the new kidney. To be covered by Medicare, your kidney transplant must be done in a hospital thats Medicare-certified to do kidney transplants.
