The activities of daily living and the subsequent instrumental activities of daily living have been identified to assist older adult patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers, in understanding the level, ability, and function of a patient based on physical and/or cognitive decline or functional disability over time. The activities of daily living are broken down into a simple list of specific tasks or activities. This course provides the learner with an overview of assisting patients with daily living activities in the long-term care, skilled nursing facility, and home health environments. The course will also include an overview of the activities of daily living, the instrumental activities of daily living, various assessment tools, and discuss resources for providers and caregivers.
