Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act requires pharmaceutical manufacturers participating in Medicaid to offer outpatient medications at reduced prices to health care organizations that serve uninsured and low-income patients. The 340B program allows covered entities to extend limited federal resources to decrease the price of outpatient medications and allows covered entities to expand health services to the patients and communities they serve. This course will explain HRSA’s 340B program, how the program works, and the eligibility and compliance requirements of the program.
