Age Specific Competencies
As a part of the process of accreditation and certification for health care organizations, the Joint Commission requires education on the physical and mental characteristics of each age group, pertaining to their communication, safety and health needs, and the necessary competencies for care individualized to the particular age group.
This course is focused on the growth and development markers specific for patients within each age group and the competencies required for care of these age groups.

New York (NY) Surprise Law
The New York Surprise Law became effective April 1, 2015, providing protection for consumers regarding co-payments, impacting billing and reimbursement, and requiring new disclosures from healthcare providers regarding their plan participation status. This course will discuss the Emergency Medical Services and Surprise laws and their impact on New York Insurance, Public Health, and Financial Services Regulations. In Addition, disclosure requirements for certain health care providers for out-of-network and non-urgent care, new billing and reimbursement rules, health plan participation status with providers, consumer rights, and the arbitration process will be reviewed.

Malignant Hyperthermia
Malignant hyperthermia is a hereditary disease that adversely affects the body’s skeletal muscle. It can be life-threatening and is triggered in susceptible individuals who are exposed to certain muscle relaxants and inhalational anesthetic drugs. Most individuals with malignant hyperthermia have no symptoms or manifestations until they are exposed to the triggering drugs.
The Malignant Hyperthermia course will provide readers with the background, pathophysiology, and etiology of malignant hyperthermia. This course will provide a comprehensive overview regarding diagnosing and treating patients with malignant hyperthermia.
This course aligns with the training requirements specified in the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory HealthCare (AAAHC) Accreditation Handbook. Course expiration date: 4/30/2025

Course overview
Child abuse and neglect are among the nations most serious issues. In this course you will learn how to identify the different types of child abuse and potential signs of neglect. This course also covers compliance with reporting suspected abuse and neglect to the proper authorities and how to manage the process with the adults or others that may be involved.
Goal
This course is designed to equip health professionals with knowledge of how to identify and report neglect and abuse, across the USA States are required to have provisions or procedures for reporting known or suspected instances of abuse and neglect.

The Patient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) is the new payment system for Medicare certified home health agencies (HHAs) that was implemented for home health periods of care on or after January 1, 2020. It is a prospective payment system with a billing cycle of 30 days (rather than 60-day previous model) and utilizes a case-mix adjustment methodology, grouping patients into payment categories based on certain patient characteristics. With the reduced billing cycle period under PDGM, physicians orders will need to be signed and received sooner than the previous payment system; both proper coding and documentation will be pertinent to the new system as well as the timeliness in submission of care plans and orders.
