Patient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM)
The Patient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) is the new payment system for Medicare certified home health agencies (HHAs) that was implemented for home health periods of care on or after January 1, 2020. It is a prospective payment system with a billing cycle of 30 days (rather than 60-day previous model) and utilizes a case-mix adjustment methodology, grouping patients into payment categories based on certain patient characteristics. With the reduced billing cycle period under PDGM, physicians orders will need to be signed and received sooner than the previous payment system; both proper coding and documentation will be pertinent to the new system as well as the timeliness in submission of care plans and orders.

Minor Sensitive Services
It is generally accepted that minors must receive parental consent for any medical services rendered. In addition, medical records are considered open-access for parents when their children are underage. However, there are guidelines in place to allow for minors to consent to specific services without parental oversight.
This activity discusses information regarding healthcare for minors, including the differences between treatment of emancipated and unemancipated individuals, minor confidentiality, and minor consent. Learners will gain the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to navigate complex situations involving emancipated and unemancipated minors, support adolescent autonomy, and apply state and federal regulations when delivering sensitive services in a safe, ethical, and legally compliant manner.
The content covered in this course aligns with the topics identified by the Arkansas Department of Human Services for non-licensed personnel in Qualified Behavioral Health Provider (QBHP) roles in outpatient behavioral health facilities.

Document Control in the Clinical Laboratory Setting
Laboratory documentation is a term to describe standard operating procedures, equipment logs, files, reports, records, and printed materials that come with instruments and test kits provided by a manufacturer. Documentation is the virtual ecosystem of the clinical lab which ensures consistency and quality of services, as well as compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations. In this course we will review the best practices for controlling the processes that ensure only current and approved documentation is available and utilized. Laboratory documents provide the means to review laboratory activities proof that patient testing is accurate, precise, and reliable.

What is Precision? What is required and how often?
Precision is a measure of how well a test system or instrument gives the same result when the same sample is run repeatedly. For some instruments and tests, the manufacturer specifies the expected precision. However, precision can be impacted by multiple factors and the ability of the test to produce the correct level of precision in the laboratory must be verified. Acceptable precision also needs to be determined for laboratory-developed or modified tests.
In this course, we will define precision using examples from the clinical laboratory. We will discuss regulations that apply to precision, including as part of validation or verification procedures and as part of requirements for controls. We will also discuss documentation of precision standards for tests and of control results
