This course provides an in-depth introduction to person-centered care for individuals living with dementia, with a focus on transforming care from a task-driven, institutional model to a relationship-based approach grounded in dignity, respect, and individuality. Participants will explore the nature and impact of dementia, examine the differences between patient-centered and person-centered care, and learn how honoring personal history, preferences, and relationships can improve quality of life for individuals with dementia. The course also introduces the PC P.E.A.R.L.S.™ framework, a nationally recognized model for culture change in long-term care settings, and highlights evidence-based strategies that support residents, families, and staff while aligning with accreditation standards

This course provides an overview of the monkeypox virus as well as the 2022 current global outbreak. The course reviews infection, control, and prevention measures of monkeypox as well as evaluation and diagnoses and clinical management. Lastly, it will consider the CDC’s guidelines for exposure management.

This course will provide information on the types of medications commonly used in behavioral health facilities and how providers and patients can implement best practices for medication management.

This final course in the series addresses barriers to care, strategies to overcome barriers, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for all patients.
