Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace
This course will teach you how to identify the warning signs of workplace aggression, how to report suspicious or threatening situations, and how to respond to actual incidents of workplace violence in order to prevent violence in the workplace. Risk factors for workplace alcohol and drug abuse, as well as strategies for prevention and intervention, will be covered in this course. There will also be a discussion of the supervisor’s role in dealing with substance abuse in the workplace, the negative effects of substance abuse, potential signs of abuse, and the significant impact that substance abuse has on employee productivity. This course will cover appropriate assessments and intervention strategies for healthcare managers to assist those affected by substance abuse, as well as pertinent assessment and treatment strategies that healthcare providers can use to assist those affected by prescription drug abuse. This course is approved for 2 hours of continuing education by the Florida Board of Nursing.
