Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for Healthcare Workers: Returning to Normal After a Pandemic provides healthcare professionals with an evidence-informed understanding of critical incident stress, burnout, moral injury, and second victim experiences associated with pandemics and other public health emergencies. The course explores the psychological and occupational impact of high-risk healthcare environments, including regulatory and safety considerations such as OSHA compliance and workforce protection standards. Participants will examine the components of Critical Incident Stress Management, including the Mitchell Debriefing Model and Psychological First Aid, while reviewing leadership strategies and organizational policies that promote psychological safety, resilience, and quality patient care. Practical tools and wellness strategies are provided to support individual recovery and sustainable workforce resilience.

This activity will define ergonomics and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs), discuss the prevalence of WRMSDs, review evidence-based guidelines for reducing physical risk, and explain the effects WRMSDs have on population health.

Your employer is required to identify all HDs and inform you of the risks and methods to protect yourself and others for all hazardous drugs that are present in your healthcare organization. It is the employee’s responsibility to understand their role and limitations regarding hazardous drugs and what to do in the event of a spill or exposure.
